Art One

Hi guys! I am finishing my first semester of high school, and I am basically done with my Art one class. I still have some of my projects at school, so I'll post those later, but these are the ones I have here. :)

This one is a drawing of a loggerhead shrike I entered in a contest through my art class.

We had to do specific drawings for our sketchbooks per week. These are mine in order, (But I am missing the first one, so when I get my portfolio back, I'll post that along with it.)

Keys

An Item from my closet: Hello Kitty Bank
An item from my kitchen
Draw A Shoe
Collect some leaves and draw them
Draw a pile of books
Draw a piece of candy in a wrapper
Draw 2 pieces of fruit

Draw 2 vegetables
Draw a close up of someone's eye (this is my friend McKenna's eye)
Draw your hand holding something
Draw a piece of furniture
Draw an item that represents your identity

Draw a reflective object

Draw a box of something
Research a famous artist and recreate one of their drawings/paintings

For this project, we made an Islamic Tile Drawing, and we drew one square of a pattern and repeated it four times in the different corners.

For this project, we used different tints and shades and made a pattern, then made the same painting six times with the different primary and secondary colors.
For this, we made our names in graffiti, then made a background to put it on. (Mine is on a train)

This is a pastel drawing of a close up of a part of a flower, imitating the style of the artist Georgia O' Keefe.

I hope you guys enjoyed these! When I get my portfolio after midterms next week, I will be able to post my other projects and sketchbook drawing. :)

Love you all!!

The Nutcracker

A writing assignment of a personal experience, by Audrey (6th grade):

The Nutcracker

On a bright Saturday morning my mom announced, “Okay kids, the tickets have been purchased, so let’s go see Racheal perform!” All of us groaned. “Us” meaning the kids in my family, - that is, Clark, Dana, Tate, and I. Honestly, I was young, and young  girls don’t like sitting for an hour or two watching some weird ballet. Yeah, I liked the Barbie version of the Nutcracker but ballets didn’t really work for me. Little did I know my perspective would change.
After about twenty minutes passed,  in the performance room, I found myself gaping at all of the wonderful costumes. Then, a girl wakes up to see that her dreamy doll had turned gigantic. Ick- her costume was only a nightgown. That was definitely not their best costume. A tall white girl walked in with an orange belly shirt and puffy orange pants with charms dangling from the edge. Ooh! I gave that costume a ten! Also, a ballerina acting as a doll came out wearing a white leotard and tutu stringed with red lace. Wow! Racheal wore a dark black outfit with an outstretched tutu covered in red sparkly lace. Ah, weren’t the costumes lovely?
As I gaped at the wonderful costumes, my jaw dropped to the ground at the sight of the dancing. When the gypsy ballerina gracefully pranced in the room, the beads on her top jingled with every flexible move she made- such as the splits. The ballerina dressed as a Chinese doll made staccato movements like a robot. That is a super cool technique! Racheal, (as an extra) gracefully trotted across the colorful floor and her smile gleamed a wonderful glow. My five-year-old mind instantly decided that my career one day would be to become a ballerina.
In conclusion, after a great performance, my small body was worn down from staying still. Do you know how hard it is to sit still for that long? Pretty darn hard I'll tell you. Even though I might have been fidgety and impatient for refreshments or home, everything was worth it. I can only say, this definitely will not be the last ballet I attend. To think I would've never attended a ballet if it weren't for Racheal Richy's performance in the Nutcracker.
